The following is a link to a Shelfari group site that I created a few years ago that lists Spanish Language Infused Picture Books. Many of these books are available at your library and if not can be borrowed from a library that has them. They are a wonderful resource to introduce Spanish terminology to children interested in the language or for bilingual (Spanish/English) children who will delight in seeing their language scattered throughout the stories.
The following is a defines these types of book on the groups page:
"This group focuses on Spanish Language Infused Picture Books which are
multicultural picture books where English is the primary written
language with a smattering of Spanish words and phrases that are
interwoven within the text of the story, adding significant literary
effect and enhancing the story’s cultural surroundings.
These
books are wonderful on many levels. They are great as a language
learning tool. Many are terrific to use for storytimes and they
introduce kids (& adults too) the cultural experiences and
backgrounds that many new and settled Latino/Hispanic immigrants face
today."
Welcome to the Multicultural Connect! A gathering of multicultural information for residents living in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York area and beyond. Several goals are intended for this useful blog:
* To serve as a resource to keep current on information regarding English language learning as well as learning other world languages.
* To share information to newcomers to our country and our community.
* And to learn what organizations have been doing to help serve diverse communities.
